【释义】：

vt．①原谅：Excuse me．请原谅，对不起．Excuse me for being late(=Excuse my being late)．请原谅我来晚了．Excuse me，sir，will you tell me the way to the post office?劳驾，你可以告诉我去邮局的路吗?Nothing can excuse such rudeness．如此粗暴行为是无法原谅的．②免除：excuse sb．the fee给某人免费．He was excused from attendance at the lecture．他得到允许不去听课．You are excused the rest of the translation．其余部分的翻译你们可以不作了．③辩解，辩护：excuse oneself for one’s conduct替自己的行为辩护．excuse oneself from attendance说明不能出席的原因．He excused his delay as due to the weather．他借口天气不好为自己的耽搁辩解．
